From the age of four, Kristen Reiter knew her calling and pursued her goals with intense focus and dedication. She earned her doctorate at the University of Wisconsin - School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 and is a partner in a small animal practice on Whidbey Island, Washington.
The creativity, imagination and innovation that aids her in troubleshooting the mysteries of medicine also provides talents for engaging in the arts. Kristen enjoys expressing herself through all manners of materials - from photography, to pen and ink, to clay and, most recently, stained glass. She is an award-winning and nationally published writer and photographer, having works published in books such as The Legendary Appaloosa and Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover’s Soul as well as popular magazines as Horse and Rider, The Trail Rider, and the Appaloosa Journal.
Kristen is currently a national Director for the Appaloosa Horse Club. She has owned Appaloosas for nearly forty years and is a sixteen-year veteran of the historic Chief Joseph Trail Ride. While horses compose the majority of her subject matter, she favors the Appaloosa for its unique coat patterns and colorful history.
