Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

The number you reference is the edition number. There should also be the name of the Pony on the bottom of the base. You can learn more about that particular piece by tracking it through our website.

The 6E/2945 is the edition number. Please let us know what the title of the Painted Ponies figurine is, and we will provide information about that figurine. If you'd like, you can email the title of the figurine directly to: info@paintedponies.com for a quick response.

Are ornaments retired at the same time as the figurine?

Ornaments are not retired at the same time as the figurine. Ornament are quietly retired when they are no longer crafted, unlike the figurines, which we retire 6 of each year, in July.

The "Spooked" figurine is no longer available directly through The Trail of Painted Ponies. You can find "Spooked" on eBay through other sellers, if you search on eBay for "Spooked Painted Ponies."

I recently purchased a painted pony ornament from Amazon.Is there any way to authenticate it? Should it have markings or anything on it? If so, where?

Our ornaments are small, and they don't come mounted on a base, so there is no room for the kind of authenticating stamp that accompanies figurines. We really have no competitors in the horse collectible market, so chances are your ornament is a genuine Trail of Painted Ponies ornament. If you still have concerns, send a picture to info@paintedponies.com.

I have been purchasing some retired ponies lately, and am confused by prices. I have gotten some really nice original ponies with box and tag for about $40. (Saguaro stallion, incognito, etc.) However newer ponies that are retired seem to be much more expensive in the high hundred range. Why? I would think the older the pony, the more valuable. Is it because newer ponies are fancier in design?

You are right, logic would tell you that earlier older Ponies, with a box and tag, should sell for more than recent Ponies. The X factor here is that the cost of producing Painted Pony figurines has increased significantly. over the twenty years we have been in business, which is reflected in their current retail cost.

Which of the original ponies were produced as Pre E and how many pre E of each were there? I know I’ve seen a Pre E of Boot Scootin Horsey & Karuna but was not sure which others there were.

Pre E figurines were 6 resin figurines from the first release, Winter 2003. There were 3,600 of each produced without the 1E edition number. They are: Boot Scootin' Horsey, Fireman Pony, Karuna, Motorcycle Mustang, War Pony and Caballo Brilliante.

I have 30+ painted ponies I was wanting to know if I need to keep the entire boxes including the styrofoam or could I remove the styrofoam and just keep the outside box? Would it devalue their value?

Response From Trailmaster:

If you intend to sell your Ponies on the secondary market, having the entire box including the styrofoam will make your Pony more appealing to an interested buyer. This is why we go to the trouble and expense of creating such attractive packaging. It makes each Pony a bona fide collectible.
