We try to answer questions daily. Questions are not posted until they are answered.

Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

when will the 2015 spring ponies be available and will the Ghost Riders in the Sky be included in this group?
Response From Trailmaster:
Check back on April 1. As for "Ghost Riders in the Sky," this is a terrific design that we want to translate into a figurine, but there is so much detail that the best way to accomplish this is with a decal on a ceramic Pony. We are currently exploring this possibility, so stay tuned.

I have noticed several Trail of Painted Ponies with edition numbers but no serial numbers on them up for sale on eBay lately. Why would there be no serial number but an edition number (ie: 1E/___ )on a horse? Thank you, Lisa
Response From Trailmaster:
Because each Painted Pony figurine is hand-numbered, and because thousands are crafted, unfortunately there are human oversights that manage to get through the inspection process. That's what's happened here.

I was at a wolf preserve and in their gift shop they had a painted pony with a wolf running along the side of the horse up into the neck. I do not know the name of the pony and I cannot find it on your web site. Do you have it?
Response From Trailmaster:
I think the Pony you're asking about is "Twilight Hunters," which was created by Lori Musil. This is a retired Pony, and is sold out on the official store. There are several available on eBay, however.

Marcia from Colorado wrote on March 21, 2015:
How do I find out the current value of the painted ponies that were given to me?
Response From Trailmaster:
We continue to get questions asking about the current value of Painted Ponies. There are many factors that come into play. The popularity of the piece. The edition number. Whether it is retired or not. If is signed by the artist. The condition of the Pony. Whether it is accompanied by the box it came in. Availability. How badly someone wants to add it to their collection.

Will any of the ornaments of the figures from the last 3 contests be made into future collection?
Response From Trailmaster:
We will be making decisions on the Holiday 2016 figurine and ornaments in the next month or two.

They are scheduled to be announced in early April.

Renee Yank from Arizona wrote on March 14, 2015:
How does a "paint your own" pony fit into your collection? Does it have any collector value or would it be for my pleasure only?
Response From Trailmaster:
Custom Painted Ponies which are created by individual artists using one of our Paint Your Own Pony Kit forms, are uniques. Their value is independent of The Trail, and depends on the originality and quality of the design work, and its particular appeal to an individual collector.

Not sure the original went through. I ran across the painted pony series yesterday, Was thrilled to find it. Bought Stars and Stripes and paid full price for it. They did have the box but no paper work was in the box. Can you supply me with the appropriate paper work or should I go back to the retailer and demand the paperwork? Also I am an advad carousel horse collector. You need to add more to that collection. Please advise about the paperwork. Wish I had known about this and I could have saved myself some money. You have this one on sale. I will be ordering more horses not only for myself but as Christmas gifts. Thank you
Response From Trailmaster:
I think you mean "Stars and Stirrups," not "Stars and Stripes." The paperwork included with this Pony would be the storycard. If you call the toll free number for The Trail and ask for one to be sent to you, we will try and get you a storycard. Welcome to The Trail.

Is the Colts of Many Colors available for purchase in the 6" size and if so, where?
Response From Trailmaster:
To date, Dolly Parton's "Colt of Many Colors" has only been created as a life-sized Pony, which is on display in Branson, Missouri. It has not yet been crafted into a figurine, but we are hoping it will be.
