In our quest to explore the many possibilities of the horse as a three-dimensional canvas for creative expression, we do several things:
- We invite artists from around the country to submit designs for our consideration.
- We hold annual national competitions on announced themes. We take our role as curators seriously and only the very best designs by the very best artists are accepted.
In 2006 the competition theme was: “The Native Art of Horse Painting.” Artists were asked to present entries that honored the tribal traditions among Native Americans who would paint and dress their horses before going into battle or for ceremonial purposes. Twenty finalists were invited to create Masterworks.
In 2007, “America the Beautiful” was the theme of the competition. Ten finalist were invited to paint Ponies whose designs fell into three categories: The American West; The Spirit of America; Americana.
Below, you will find a list of Masterworks that are currently available for sale. If you have any questions, would like information about the artist or more pictures of the Ponies that interest you, please contact the President of The Trail of Painted Ponies, Rod Barker. He can be reached by email – rod@trailofpaintedponies.com – or phone – 480-459-5700 Ext. 1#. |
