Coming up with ideas and images of the 60’s, took me back to many memories of that magical and turbulent time. The war, women’s lib, Art and other movements in America had a great influence in molding me into the person I am today. Then there was the music of the 60’s. Poetic song writers such as Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison of the “Doors”, set the tone of the times through their music. After establishing a design and remembering the specific color combination of the 60’s pop culture, I was convinced that you had to live through the 60’s to be able to portray a pony worthy of expressing that extraordinary time in American history. Free thinkers paved the path for many changes that others take for granted today. I wanted this pony to celebrate the culture of America in the 60’s through Art, Music, color and free thinking. The eyes of the pony look forward to the future with hope, peace, love and self expression.
