November 1, 2009 Call for Designs Announced

CALL FOR DESIGNS:

The Trail of Painted Ponies is partnering with the American Heart Association Greater Washington DC Heart Ball to create an original Masterwork that will be auctioned to benefit the American Heart Association. The 12th Annual Heart Ball is an inspirational black-tie celebration of life, supports the mission of the American Heart Association: building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. When you consider heart disease is the No. 1 killer in the nation, with stroke not far behind at No. 3, this mission takes on a significance that is at once personal and universal. These diseases affect everyone – men, women and children. On February, 27, 2010, more than 500 of Greater Washington Region’s most prominent physicians, corporate, healthcare and community leaders will join together to ensure lifesaving research and programs continue to be funded to benefit Americans today and tomorrow. The 2010 Heart Ball is chaired by the Bender Foundation, Inc. and the Bender Family and will be held at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. The evening event includes spectacular live and silent auctions, seated dinner, inspirational stories of survival and live music and dancing.           
                   

• “Take the Reins for Heart” is the theme of the February 27, 2010 Heart Ball.
• Established and Emerging Artists, Designers and Architects are invited to submit designs.
• Submissions must be based on the theme of “Hearts and Horses” and must be elegant in nature.
• Multiple Submissions will be considered.
• There are no fees for submissions.

• Download the application and horse form. Please note that your design must be created on the Walking Horse Form.
• Use appropriate paper.  For example if you are a watercolor artist use watercolor paper.
• Please title your design submission and include a narrative description of your submission.

WINNING ARTIST:

• The winning artist will be invited to paint an original Masterwork to be auctioned at the Greater Washington DC Heart Ball.
• The winning artist will be paid $1,000. for the opportunity to paint an original Painted Ponies Masterwork for the American Heart Association.
• The winning artist must agree to paint and return the Masterwork to The Trail of Painted Ponies by January 25, 2010.

JUDGES:

The Top design will be chosen by the Howard and Sondra Bender Family, Chairs of the 2010 Greater Washington DC Heart Ball.

DEADLINE:

All entries must be postmarked no later than December 1, 2009

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WINNING DESIGN:

The winning design and artist will be announced on January 1, 2010

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

1. We assume all entries are original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein.  We are not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant.
2. In return for accepting the “financial and promotional package,” winners will agree to release to The Trail of Painted Ponies the reproduction rights to their winning entry.
3. Please note: Any and all designs submitted to The Trail of Painted Ponies are on the copyrighted and registered horse form and these submissions are property of The Trail of Painted Ponies.  We regret that we cannot return any submissions.  Happy Trails!
