On Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, 2009, we announced that we were embarking on a Trail of Painted Ponies Retirement Program. We said it would last four months. We said that on the first day of each month, through and including the month of March, we would retire twelve more Painted Ponies. With this month’s website update, we are announcing the final twelve. No more Painted Ponies will be retired in 2010. And as clichéd as it may sound, it just may be the case that we saved the best for last.
Why do we say that? Take a look at the Ponies that are being put out to pasture:
Topping the list are two Exclusive Painted Ponies: Run for the Roses (previously available only at Dillards Department Stores) and the Maple Leaf Pony (whose distribution was limited to Canada).
Running head-to-head in rarity are three Ponies that were released in the Summer of 2009, have been out less than a year, and are all First Edition Ponies: Spirit of the Seasons, Zuni Silver, and Crow Fair Pony.
The large Fetish Pony
The remaining six Ponies to be retired are all Holiday-themed Ponies: Christmas Clydesdale, Snowflake, Crystal, Reindeer Roundup, Happy Holidays and Starlight.
As everyone knows, retirement means no more of these Painted Ponies will be produced (ever), which enhances their value in the eyes of collectors. So check with your local retailer to see if he has any available. Or shop below on the Official Trail of Painted Ponies Store.
