Retirement is something a lot of people look foward to. They think of it as the world's longest coffee break. A time do do nothing without worrying about getting caught at it. Days without pressure, stress, or heartache - unless you play golf.
For eight Painted Ponies, it is a time for us to say "So long. Thanks for the ride."
It's that time of year again. Every July 1 (and January 1) we put eight more Painted Pony figurines out to pasture. This means we won't be crafting any more of them. It's the end of their Trail. Of interest to serious collectors is the fact they are now part of a limited edition. In the eyes of many, this boosts their value. We will not be creating any more. Ever.
Some of the Ponies we are retiring have been with us for a long time. "Happy Trails" was part of our Second Release, back in the Summer of 2003. "Tewa Horse" followed shortly, as part of our Third Release in the Winter of 2004. The same with "Blue Medicine." Thinking about all the lives these Ponies have touched over the last six years makes us downright sentimental.
"Horse with No Name" and "Dog and Pony Show" rank next in terms of seniority. They joined The Trail in the Summer of 2006, our Eighth Release. ""Viva Las Vegas" arrived six months later, in the Winter of 2007, and six months after that, in the Summer of 2007, "Northern Lights" and "Boot Camp" came prancing along.
They will be missed, but not forgotten. Those collectors who have not yet added them to their personal collections still have time to order them, but not for long. To add one of these retired Painted Ponies to your collection, click on the image below.
