Growing the Value of Painted Pony Figurines

Many so-called collectibles have their 15 minutes of fame, then disappear from sight, surfacing occasionally at garage sales. Painted Pony figurines, however, are one of those rare collectibles that have proven they have legs. A large part of their longevity can be attributed to their uniqueness and their quality. Not many collectibles can lay claim to being authentic, miniature works of art. But there are also steps that we at The Trail have taken to enhance Painted Pony figurines, and grow their value as collectibles. Three very important steps were taken with our latest release.

Title Plaques

Walk into any legitimate fine art gallery and look closely at the sculpture they are exhibiting and you will see title plaques mounted on the base providing collectors with the name of the piece. With our latest release we have added this feature to every new figurine. You will also find title plaques on the bestselling Painted Ponies that we are re-crafting and will be available once again this summer.

Packaging

With any upscale collectible, you should expect attractive yet functional packaging… and again, with our latest release and all releases going forward, you will find that Painted Ponies come with packaging that truly adds to their value. On the front of a rich burgundy box that has The  Trail of Painted Ponies logo at the top along with a black band of horseshoes, you will find a gorgeous picture of the Pony that is inside the box. On the back of the box you will find information about The Trail, along with a special write-up about the Pony and a close-up picture of the Pony. Artistically designed, this packaging is a major upgrade over our previous packaging. It makes your Pony look almost gift-wrapped,  and adds to the overall collectability of the figurine inside.

Story Cards

Thirdly, in the tradition of collectible trading cards that, in the early 20th century, were often packaged along with other products and became a distinct category of collectible in their own right (think baseball cards), we have traded in the small hangtags that used to be strung around the Pony’s neck, for trading cards that have the picture of the Pony on the front, and its story on the back. Inside each box you will find a trading card.

Each one of these features would increase the value of a Painted Pony figurine. Add all three together, and you can understand why we feel that the new and upcoming Painted Pony figurines are a better value than ever before.
